Skyrim Trainer

Abeona GuideIn Skyrim, there are about fifteen skills, which are separated into three skill groups, that you can train. Normally, you train your skills by practicing them. For example, if you want to increase your sneak skill, you would spend a lot of time in sneak mode.

However, there are other ways you can train your skills. Some books that you read will give you a skill boost, and there are some non-player characters around the world of Skyrim who will offer to help you with your skills.

What Is a Skyrim Trainer?

A Skyrim trainer is an NPC who helps your character become proficient in a certain skill. There are three trainers in Skyrim per skill. There is one adept trainer, one expert trainer, and one master trainer per skill.

Adept trainers will train your character up to level 50, expert trainers will train your character up to level 75, while master trainers will train your character up to level 90. A trainer cannot help your character reach level 100 for a skill. Once you reach level 90, all trainers for that skill will no longer offer to train you.

Unfortunately, you must pay trainers if you want them to help you increase your skill levels. The higher your level is, the more you will pay for training. If you are level 50 or below, you can calculate the cost of training a skill using the following equation: 10*(skill level)+50. Once your character is past level 50 for a skill, the cost for training will triple.

Getting Your Money Back

If you don’t mind pick pocketing and possibly getting caught for it, you can get around paying a Skyrim trainer for training. Find a trainer in Skyrim that also happens to be a merchant, such as Arcadia in Whiterun.

Talk to the trainer in question and use up all your money on training. Since the Skyrim trainer is also a merchant, the money you spent on training will go into the trainer’s inventory. After you’re done training, go into sneak mode and walk around the room until you are out of the trainer’s line of sight. Pick pocket the trainer and take your money back.

Before you pick pocket the trainer, you should save your game and reload your save file if you get caught. If you don’t have a high pick pocketing skill, you might have trouble pick pocking a large sum of gold from the trainer. Instead of trying to pick pocket the trainer after dozens of training sessions, you should pick pocket the trainer after every one or two sessions. Heavier items are harder to successfully pickpocket without getting caught.

Skyrim Trainer Bugs

There are two known bugs that are associated with trainers in Skyrim. The Fortify Skill effect temporarily makes your skill level higher than it actually is. If that effect is currently active when you talk to the trainer, the price she shows you will be affected by the Fortify Skill effect. However, once you agree to pay for the training, you will pay a price that is based on your level when the Fortify Skill affect is not active.

Sometimes, when you pay for training, the skill will not increase. The way to fix this bug is by training it until you level up once. Go back to the trainer and pay for training again, and your level should increased.

Training your skills manually to level 100 will take hundreds, if not thousands, of hours. The faster and more realistic way to train your skills to level 100 is by paying Skyrim trainers to do it for you.
